FINALLY: An Offering to Ease the Overwhelm of Intermediate Piano Teaching
The Intermediate stage of piano teaching is full of choices:

  • What repertoire do I assign?
  • How do I teach advancing technique?
  • What matters most at this stage of study?
  • How do I handle Transfer Students?
  • For that matter, how do I handle TEENAGERS? 😳
It's easy to feel intimidated by the amount of attention our Intermediate Students require.

It's Not Your Fault: There are numerous educational opportunities (in the University arena and elsewhere) to help us learn how to teach beginners

We learn about various methods, big-picture teaching philosophies, and the vast resources available for elementary piano students.

But what comes next?

Many teachers find themselves caught in a never-ending cycle of trial and error with their Intermediate pianists, feeding nagging doubts of, "Am I doing this right?

It's not like there's a specific class dedicated to teaching Intermediate Students...

...oh, but what if there was

YOU ARE INVITED to join Christina Whitlock and Janna Williamson for a 10-week Cohort Experience, as we journey through Jeanine Jacobson's Professional Piano Teaching, Volume Two.

This 10-week study is your chance to find a clear path forward — alongside a brilliant community of fellow teachers.

Together, we’ll unpack the core principles of intermediate piano teaching so you can grow in confidence and support your students more effectively.
"When students reach the intermediate level, having mastered the basic foundation for playing the piano, there is an exciting opportunity for teachers to guide them into greater musical growth.

Growth is facilitated when teachers know the progression of intermediate-level concepts and how to select appropriate repertoire and structure other learning tasks."
Dr. Jeanine Jacobson, Professional Piano Teaching (Volume Two)
Suggested Participation:

Each week will cover one chapter in the textbook.

Teachers should plan to set aside approximately 2 hours per week for reading and assignment completion prior to our LIVE Cohort Meetings (Fridays at 12pm Eastern).

In addition to thorough research, our chosen text provides projects for new and seasoned teachers, to be applied to your current studio in real time.

The results are sure to be transformational!

“Because students will remain at the intermediate levels for a long time period and learn fewer new concepts than they did at the elementary levels, they sometimes lose interest in lessons.
To overcome these struggles, skillful and creative teaching strategies can be applied.”
Dr. Jeanine Jacobson, Professional Piano Teaching (Volume Two)
